Like a light for the whole
world to see comes the music of
Luciano.
No matter what walk of life you come from, or what your musical
taste may be, listen to
Luciano's
latest work, entitled
Jah Words,
only if you are
prepared to be uplifted. In fact,
Luciano
has been making his sweet music for over ten years now with quite an
arsenal of material to his name, it would be difficult to
listen to any of
Luciano's,
also known as "Jah Messenger", music
without feeling something spiritually powerful.
Luciano has been preaching Truth and Life since his humble
beginnings. Whether you listen to one of his earliest works like
"Don't Get Crazy," or "Jah Words" of today, you will feel privileged
to be engulfed by a feeling of love and righteousness. In an
ever-changing world, musically and beyond,
Luciano
has never changed the message.
In listening to this
album, a certain sophistication can be felt, generating a sense that
this man is at the top of his game. From the very start he asks
"Are you with Me, or are you Against Me, Don't you know I'm here to
uplift the human race?" Even if your not a Godly person its hard to
be against a man of such worthy intentions. One aspect of this
music that makes it so special is that it reaches out to all kinds
of people, no matter where you come from or what you believe. In
the title track to the album the man say, "Hurt no one tell no lies,
always be watching the signs of the times." Not many musicians can
put such intense feeling behind such a simple loving plea as
Luciano
does on "Feed the World."
An inspiring story
within itself, the writing on
Jah Words, save for Bob Dylan's
masterpiece, is credited to a long time fan named Ian Clough
and his partner Calvini Bakker. Mr. Clough, who had
written a song with
Luciano in mind,
persistently
pursued
Luciano
to sing the song, and rewarded with his approval, eventually turned
into to this masterpiece that became this album. In
fact, when asked regarding the album, Luciano could hardly give
enough credit for Mr. Clough and Mr. Bakker for their hard work.

Ian Clough, In his own
words
When i was in high school at
Titchfield Port Antonio Portland Jamaica my literature
teacher Mrs Sajabi Smith told me that I had a talent for
writing though I couldn't see it. However I never
forget it. Back then writing was the main form of
communication and i used this opportunity to practice by
communicating with all my friends who were in different
areas of the world. After migrating to the usa in 1989
I decided to go to college in 1992 where i met my partner
Calvini Bakker. We then started sharing poems that
both of us had written independently. As we got to
know each other more , it became clear that we share the
same strong desire to uplift and educate mankind.
However we realized that the best way to do this was to
focus our attention on song writing instead of poetry, in
order for the strong message of the most high to get to the
four corners of the earth. After some experiences
which increased our knowledge as to the business and the
contrary dealings of others ,we decided to start writing for
Luciano
without even knowing him. Because he was the most positive
singer that share our view of incessant love and compassion
for humanity. After writing FOOT SOLJAH our quest to
meet and convince
Luciano
to do the song began.

As the story goes,
Luciano was inspired by Mr. Clough's writing, and the music "touched
and inspired me", as Luciano says in his
conversation with The
Reggae Movement.
"For 2 years Brother Ian had been checking me down trying to get me
to sing this one song, which was Foot Souljah. Then after we did
that song, it led to another, and I realized that him and I had
formed a chemistry, where whatever song he wrote I could feel what
he was writing. I could put spirit to it, and he realized…he
couldn’t believe how easy I could interpret his songs."
Jah Words
flows with the spirituality and smoothness that the world has come
to know from Luciano's past works, and offers a bouncy
feel, a soulful style with some minor infusion of rock n roll.
The album features a catchy version of "Knockin on Heaven's Door",
which was featured on Is It Rolling Bob,
Ras Records' successful reggae
dedication to Bob Dylan, that leaves you wondering what other
unexpected classics this man is capable of covering and making his
own. The album also features some of the best love songs
Luciano
has every sang such as "Angel Heart" and "Perfect Love."
(Angel Heart, according to Mr. Clough, was written "just after I had
met this lady, and well she inspired me.")
